From the M6 take Junction 40. Take the A66 towards Brough.  Turn right and the next roundabout on to the A6 towards Shap.  Go over Eamont Bridge and turn right at the mini roundabout and on to the B5320 signposted Pooley Bridge and Ullswater.  Keep on the road for approximately 2 miles and on entering Tirril village go past the Queens Head Pub and Broad Ing Cottage is on the left hand side as you are leaving the village.
